Oestrogen is a group of hormones, which are primarily responsible for the development of female sex organs and sexual characteristics.
There are three main forms of oestrogen, known as estrone (E1), estradiol (E2) and estriol (E3); different forms of oestrogen are involved in different activities and changes in the levels may cause different health problems.
An estrogen test measures the level of the most important Oestrogen hormones (estradiol, estriol, and estrone) in a blood or urine sample.
To interpret test results use the reference range in the laboratory report.
