Anti-HBc-IgM test looks for antibodies called IgM in your blood. The test is used to find out whether you are actively infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
You may need this test if your healthcare provider suspects you have a liver infection caused by HBV. You may also need this test if you have symptoms of hepatitis B.
Normal results are negative, meaning that no hepatitis B core IgM antibodies were found.
Positive results mean you are actively infected with HBV.
